Continue to provide information and input to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) on the Monroe Landfill Closure Plans and its relationship to the Henry Farms Estate project.
Continue to provide information and input to the Orange County and New York State Departments of Health regarding the safety of the water supply proposed on the Henry Farms Estate project.
“Site Plan Public Hearing”: We requested to have a new law in place to increase distance of notification to property owners within 300 feet of the property that is subject to a site plan application. While the 300 feet distance was not increased, we were successful in getting a new law adopted (L1-2003, Section 57-19C.) that in the event that the 300 feet requirement extends to properties beyond the town boundary, the applicant is now required to notify such property owners of the site plan public hearing via certified mail.
Submitted petition and presented alternatives to losing commerical land with the Bald Hill Estates zone change
Submitted petition opposing the Henry Farm commerical lot plan and objected to the grandfather clause exempting applicant from improved zoning (Local Law 1-2003)
Researching local laws and codes for improvement. For example, requested that the town enhance wetland protection laws with increased permit fees and strict penalties. Also requested tree conservation and ridgeline protection laws.
Researching other relevant areas of historical and environmental concern.
Learning about regulatory agency involvement in development plans.
